Our Team

Christopher Smith
CEO Maplewood Healthcare

Mr. Smith is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Maplewood Healthcare founded in 2013. He is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Allegiance Realty Corporation founded in 2004 as a private real estate investment company with a vertically integrated platform focused on acquiring and managing institutional quality multi-tenanted office buildings throughout the United States providing compelling alternatives to conventional investment vehicles for family offices, RIAs and high-net-worth individuals. He was also the Co-Founder and President of American Property Global Partners founded in 1996, the forbearer to Allegiance Realty Corporation.  With over 25 years of real estate investment, appraisal, commercial construction, and consulting experience, Mr. Smith has owned and managed office, hotel, industrial, residential and retail projects in excess of 8 million square feet valued, well in excess of $1 billion with over $200 million in raised equity. Observing a fragmented healthcare system with an ever-changing healthcare climate, Maplewood Healthcare was founded to create real estate solutions for healthcare providers, health networks and physician practices. Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Finance and an M.B.A. from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Lisa Quinn, CPA
Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Quinn is the Chief Financial Officer for Maplewood Healthcare. Responsible for all financial, accounting, tax, and administrative areas of the company, Ms. Quinn is directly involved with all investment purchase and sales transactions. She also oversees the cash management, accounting and financial reporting functions of Maplewood Healthcare real estate investments. Ms. Quinn previously worked for 15 years at Ernst & Young as a tax senior manager, with most of her experience servicing closely held companies and their owners. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting from Bryant University and a Masters in Taxation from the University of Hartford. She's a licensed CPA and a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the NC Association of CPAs.

Sonya Karpowich
Chief Operating Officer

Sonya Karpowich has been with Maplewood Healthcare since its inception.  She joined the company as the General Counsel and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer.  Ms. Karpowich focuses on transactional and operational management and oversees client reporting and legal activities related to Maplewood Healthcare. With 23 years of commercial real estate experience, Ms. Karpowich has extensive experience in all facets of real estate transactions. Given her in-house General Counsel tenure with Maplewood Healthcare, Ms. Karpowich began to expand her responsibilities from transactional into the operational management of Maplewood Healthcare and its portfolio, which led to her 2017 shift to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Before joining Maplewood Healthcare, Ms. Karpowich worked in the real estate groups of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP and Cox Castle & Nicholson, LLP in Los Angeles. Ms. Karpowich received a B.A. in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Finance and Entrepreneurship from University of Southern California.

Bill Littlefield
General Counsel

Bill Littlefield joined Maplewood Healthcare as General Counsel in 2017. With nearly 30 years of direct experience in structuring and executing commercial real estate transactions, Mr. Littlefield has provided advisory and/or legal services for the acquisition, refinancing or sale of over 300 commercial real estate properties representing asset values in excess of $3.0 Billion over the course of several business cycles. He began his career in the private practice of law in 1986, and subsequently was the founder and managing partner of the law firm of Burn Littlefield & Pacitti, PC. Mr. Littlefield has been a member of the State Bar of New Mexico since 1986, holds a JD from the University of New Mexico School of Law and an MBA from the Robert O. Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of New Mexico.

Jay Lapham
Asset Manager

Mr. Lapham joined Maplewood Healthcare in 2015 as an Asset Manager. With over 15 years of experience in leasing and management, he is responsible for the on-site, day-to-day management of the Maplewood Healthcare portfolio in Connecticut. Prior to joining Maplewood Healthcare, Mr. Lapham served as a Vice President at Jones Lang LaSalle in New York City. He assisted in the leasing and management of over 8 million square feet, spanning across 20 properties. Representing both landlords and tenants, Mr. Lapham negotiated and executed 2.1 million square feet of lease transactions during his tenure. Mr. Lapham earned a BS in economics from Williams College, and an MBA from Duke University’s The Fuqua School of Business. He is a licensed real estate broker in the State of New York and a Certified Commercial Investment Member candidate pursuing the CCIM designation.

Thomas Summer
Real Estate Analyst

Thomas Summer joined Maplewood Healthcare in October of 2015 as a real estate analyst. As an analyst, Thomas is involved in handling both property-level responsibilities, as well as general management of the Maplewood Healthcare portfolio. Thomas is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Furman University, where he earned a B.S. in Business majoring in Economics.

J. Ivy Wessson
Portfolio Administrator

Ms. Wesson is the Portfolio Administrator for Maplewood Healthcare. Ms. Wesson has an expansive role supporting and administrating every aspect of the medical portfolio from operations and accounting to acquisitions and development. Ms. Wesson graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a major in International Corporate Service with a minor in economic development.
